Anatomy

Knightibranches may come in countless colors, patterns, and mutations, but every one shares the same basic anatomy. Understanding these core features will help you design recognizable and accurate characters.

The Mask

Every Knightibranch naturally has a mask or helmet. The mask protects one of the most vulnerable parts of their body. Removing the helmet requires an Erasure Potion mutation.

Damaging another Knightibranch's helmet is considered one of the greatest insults in their culture.

Eye Stalks

Knightibranch eyes are located on their eye stalks, not behind the mask. Eye stalks should remain visible on submitted designs unless altered by an approved mutation.

Body

Knightibranches have soft, slug-like bodies. Their body may have many colors, markings, and patterns, but the overall slug-inspired anatomy remains part of their species identity.

Shell

Every Knightibranch has a shell. Unless you have a different tail type. Shells can come in many shapes and colors, and mutations may alter their appearance, but the shell remains an essential part of their anatomy.

Hands and Feet

Knightibranches have four fingers on each hand. Without armor, their feet are soft and slug-like rather than human-shaped.

Tail

Every Knightibranch has a tail. Tail shape may vary, but major changes such as split tails, elemental tails, or unusual tail forms require the proper mutation.

Armor

Armor is a natural part of a Knightibranch's body rather than something they simply wear. Armor placement and material may vary, but missing armor or additional armor pieces require approved mutations.

Growths and Frills

Knightibranches may have frills, horns, wings, fur, plant growths, crystals, metallic growths, bells, buttons, and other special features depending on their traits or mutations.

Size

  • Pures: Around raccoon-sized.
  • Mutants: Around Badger-sized.
  • Anomalies: Can reach the size of a medium dog.
  • Elementals: Usually squirrel-sized, but much faster than other Knightibranches.

Internal Biology

  • Can breathe both on land and underwater.
  • Naturally intersex.
  • Lay one egg per year.
  • Reach adulthood around 100 years old.
  • Average lifespan is 200–500 years.

Design Reminder

While mutations allow incredible customization, every Knightibranch should still clearly resemble the species. Their mask, shell, eye stalks, slug-like body, and overall silhouette are what tie them together.
