The Whispering Forest

As exploration continued, some explorers have reported hearing whispers. No one seemed to agree about what the words said, just that they could all hear them. Each seemed to hear completely different words, or just a mix of unknown sounds. 

Scholars are unsure what this means, or if there was just a sense of paranioa amongst the group as there were so many questions left unanswered. But what is certain is the result of the next morning after their night camping out. 

Three members vanished during the night. None left footprints

The Five Great Expeditions

Due to the shock of a few members going missing, several search parties went out to find them. The missing members ranged from simple scouts to team leaders, so a simple departure with no heads up did not make any sense. 

In total five teams were sent out to solve this mystery, while the others remained at the campsite still unsure what to make of the situation. 

However, nearly two weeks later only one team returned...with no word from any of the others. None of the members from this team would speak about what happened. 

Instead...

They burned their journals...

The Broken Compass

As the group decided to move forward from the campsite, they came across an explorer's compass. While damaged it seemed to be in some way still functional. 

It always points somewhere...

But not north...

Even today scholars are stumped as it continues turning towards the same distant location. 

Echoes Beneath the Roots

As they contiune forward in their exploration, several researchers find a massive cave of ruins beneath the forests. The walla are cluttered with crude scratched drawings in which the depiction is uncertain. 

The architecture they find in these caves are nothing like modern Knightibranch construction, nor Tall Legs. 

On some of the walls there are depictions of Knightibranches...

with completely different shells. 

The Forgotten Names

While documenting the history of Knightibranches, using some of the books found in the caves, it was found that there were many mentions of leaders and heroes that seemed to not exist at all in modern history. 

No one had heard of them before, with these seemingly being their first mention in a very long time. 

It was almost as if someone deliberately erased them...

You flip the page and see the next page seems to have been torn out

When the Stars Fell

An astronomical event occurred very long ago, that seemed to have a massive effect on the world.

Afterward...maps changed, rivers moved, and new creatures arose that had not existed before. 

The Snods then led the first knightibranch to create a settlement.

Many believe this was the begining of modern Knightibranch history. 

The Sleeping Giant

Later the explorers found a cave mural that seems to depict something enormous beneath the world. And from the crude picture, it is not very clear what this 'something' actually is. 

No one knows whether it is:

• A creature
• A God
• A mountain

The caption below the mural simply states the following:

"Do not wake what dreams below..."

The Last Journal

A recently discovered explorer's diary is currently in your hands. But it appears the writer was writing in a hurry...

I have run as fast as I possibly can...and I am nearly out of breath from it. There is so much that I want to say but I am not sure I can get it all out on the page in time.

The first Travelers

While Tall Legs have been extinct for awhile, Knightibranches have existed in some way or form for a long time. Not long after the fall of the Tall Legs the history that most have come to know if this that the Snods (Snail Gods) found the first knightibranch and helped them settle the first settlement. 

Throughout countless documents it appears Knightibranches have always been curious explorers in one shape or another. Whether it was curious for new places to live, new masks, history, buildings, culture, etc they were often always on the hunt for this info. 

As it is known now, many regions were settled peacefully and co-exist amongst one another. 

What still remains a mystery is this: Our oldest maps already speak of abandoned villages whose builders were unknown...

The Empty Villages

Knightibranches took their exploration forward to look for any clue of these mysterious builders, as the style seemed unlike the Tall Legs. Upon their discovery they were shocked to find entire settlements remained. Home, tools, food, all untouched and seemingly left in frozen time. 

While throughly searching, they were unable to find any signs of battle, foot prints, Khan makrings, or anything else. Why would they abandon this place all of the sudden...?
